Julian David Cohen was born January 27, 1984 in Philadelphia, PA to Lauren Cohen a single mother of now two small boys. The father of the children had skipped town do to not wanting to have the responsibility of raising not one but two of his children. Lauren was a young girl, only twenty one when her second child was born and a now college drop out. The woman worked meaningless jobs and hated the fact that she could barely support herself let alone small children that he had made. Working herself ragged through two jobs and endless support from her friends to take care of the children day and night she finally decided school was the best option to show her boys what hard work and determination paid off for. Julian, who was named after his grandfather was always a happy child even if they were living off thrift store clothes and government cheese, he always made the best of life, even for his mother whom he had seen cry one too many times in his young existence. He never understood the surroundings around him but he still had a positivity about life that even made the worst days seem brighter for the young family.

Weekends were always spent outside the city in Laurens home town; she often sent the boys to spend time outside of a busy city and gave her time to spend by herself getting her own thoughts together before she went nuts. Julian loved it out there, mawmaw and pawpaw had a yard, and bikes, and anything a young boy could ask for, as well as neighbor kids that were close in age. This was the beginning of what he saw as true friendship. A little girl with brown eyes and hair to match that seemed to be a bit shorter than her age range from the beginning. She had a smile that would light up the room and if you never believed in love from a young age you would when you’d see the two of them. Summers spent at his grandparent’s house left the two of them in hair pulling and punching matches, she’d boss him around and he’d take it like a husband in training. Their parents thought it was adorable and even played along in their mock weddings that he was forced to play in, as the husband of course.

However as Julian grew he began playing sports starting with baseball and pee-wee football, soccer for a short time and it was a great way to run his energy off and he was good at it. His grandfather, whom was pretty much his only fatherly figure in his life for the most part supported this and got him to try other things like piano lessons, even a short lived tap dance class which they soon realized a child with a bouncy leg was not good for that kind of thing. Moving on to pre-teen years where he begged for a drum set which his loving grandparent’s reluctantly bought him. Hobbies changed and the young boy was growing into a man, replacing toys like action figures and board games for video games and cd players. Girls started looking different to him and his mother found this all too amusing for some reason, probably because he proclaimed he would never like a girl in a gross way for several years beforehand. Sports were still in the picture but he was now trying out for teams and proving himself as an adult and not as a child anymore, or at least he thought. His crush for the girl next door was pondered while he was at home but being mean to her seemed to be the only way to throw her off, or so he thought.

Teenage years for Julian were spend confusing, his brother was into girls, a lot and he was a bit of a ladies man, Julian watched a lot looking for something he thought he would be good at with the actions of his brother which seemed to be nothing but good in the first place. As well more confusing news when his father decided he was going to step back into the picture for some reason. Julian didn’t know the man and he wasn’t sure if he was just supposed to pretend he does for the sake of him being his father or hate him for all the tears his mother still shed, all the stress he caused her and the broken family they had he constantly blamed on his immaturity and inability to be a man in the first place. He threw the family in a spiral not sure about anything though as soon as he was there and at a place where the boys could open up to him he was gone once again leaving everyone in shambles. Moving on quickly not expecting much of the man he moved on with growing up normally the way it had always been. The summer of his thirteenth year was a summer of firsts. His first real kiss, his first cigarette (which he would later become addicted to), his first feeling of love, his first short lived heartbreak (lovers spats are intense at thirteen.) his first sip of beer, and a lot more firsts that were less important.

Growing up even more the little neighbor girl, his first crush, his best friend, his life basically his whole life, was now his girlfriend, even though they went to different high schools they attended dances together, sporting events, went on dates and never exactly had to show on one another to their friends. She would support his short lived band and he would support whatever it was she was doing in her life at the moment. Through out most of high school, of course, they had their on and off again times, but they had a strong connection that never seemed to go away and brought them back together. They planned on attending the same college, and be that super couple you only saw on television. However he wasn’t sure what happened when she ended up going to NYC and he stayed in Philly to study but it still worked for them, somehow. They had everything planned, vacations, who was visiting where and whatnot. He was studying nursing, or well medicine, though he knew he would quickly become bored with being in school for than long to become a doctor. His goals were to become some kind of life saver, which was not the case at all, blame too much ER or something for that one.

Life however throwing him for another loop when the love of his life deciding avoiding him. He trusted her enough to ignore it even though it bothered him when she’d cancel plans and rather talk on the phone or though email and whatever. He knew she wasn’t cheating on him, he would have picked up on that but he knew something was off. Of course, Julian, thinking the worst in everything thought she was raped or on drugs or something. Definitely not the case when she finally got the guts up to see him and there she was, belly full of child, and no denying that it was anything but that. He was shocked, scared, confused, not sure what to do at all. The ever so level headed man was a complete wreck wondering why it took so long for her to tell him about this. They worked their plans through once again finding times to be there with her and get her as much money and support as possible that he could with school. He knew his mother did it, and he knew he could as well. Several months later he was there holding her small son in his arms which seemed to be the happiest moment of his life. He now had something else to live for and it was just the most amazing feeling in the world.

Continuing to go to school in Philly, Julian found it hard to balance school, Melony, and their son all together, they started fighting a lot over small things they planned out and they became frustrated with one another constantly, only to come back to the I’m sorry and making up once more. A year or so later Julian finally decided it was time for them just to be where they should be in the first place. Asking for her hand in marriage she accepted and they moved on from that, still not changing the way they were living. Fighting even more over the situations at hand Julian knew he wasn’t being fair by sacrificing the things that she had, even though she refused to let him completely quit college, he put in for a transfer to NYC where he could still be at school and support his family. That summer her made the move and got himself a job in the city as well as continuing with school. Marrying that following summer they made everything official as well he was in his senior year of school which was good all around, everything was looking up for them, and then they found out she was pregnant once again. This time it wasn’t that big of a surprise they were married, and doing what married people did, of course.

Being there though the whole up and down pregnancy, learning hormones could kill someone, literally and enjoying the whole experience Julian now had a little girl to call his own as well. It was the best graduation present he could even think of. Julian got a job right away, easily for him, oddly enough. Though having small children and working at a hospital was not a good thing he would soon learn. A year later he started looking for something with better, more manageable hours for their life, which he found in a small pediatric office in Brooklyn. He loved the hours; as well he loved children too. It was win, win for him and it didn’t cause any rifts in 16 hour ER shifts and making his wife lose time on her classes because he wasn’t home. Quietly life moved on realizing that their apartment was way too small for growing children and they needed something to make them as a family more permanent. Buying a home, sort of they moved on to start remodeling it into something they want, their dream home together, the home they will grow old together in and their children and grandchildren can grow and all that mushy sentimental stuff that goes along with giant decisions like that. Currently Julian and his family are living the lives of new Yorkers; busy, busy, busy. Between work and home things, he had sports games to attend, recitals, pta meetings he’s dragged to, not to mention being an assistant coach to a few of his son’s teams. He wouldn’t have life any other way, though.
